Aromatherapy involves the use of natural oils which have been extracted from plants and flowers. The chosen oils are used to create a feeling of relaxation and to heal both physical and psychological issues.
Aromatherapy treatment starts with scents from selected oils being inhaled by a client to stimulate brain function. Then oil is directly applied to the client’s body, absorbed into the skin to travel around the body and give healing. Aromatherapy is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function.
There is a large range of aromatherapy oils to use, each with its own healing properties. Certain essential oils can trigger physical or emotional effects on their own. Citrus oils can lift the spirit and help treat depression. Lavender is a calming agent, used to relax, combat stress and promote sleep. Thyme is used for colds, cuts, flu, and sore throats. Ginger helps with body circulation and when used in blends, can help with arthritis and muscle aches, Each oil has its own special benefit.
